Lee Hecht Harrison to be the exclusive Outplacement Provider at 2009 Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Annual Conference in June

Woodcliff Lakes, NJ (May 5, 2009)– Lee Hecht Harrison (LHH), a world leader in talent management solutions, and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), today announced a landmark, exclusive sponsorship to launch the first ever Career Transition Center at the SHRM Annual Conference which takes place in New Orleans from June 28 – July 1, 2009. This marks the first year SHRM has teamed with an organization to provide outplacement and career transition expertise to the over 8,000 HR professionals that participate in the annual conference.
With unemployment reaching 30 year highs, many companies are working through reorganization activities to adjust to the changing marketplace and business objectives. These actions are of a direct impact to all employees, but especially HR professionals who drive an organization's talent agenda. The Career Transition Center , which will be exclusively sponsored and serviced by Lee Hecht Harrison , will provide resources and support to attendees who are adjusting the direction of their career as well as the direction of their company. The Center will feature expert advice from career consultants, unlimited access to a job database of HR opportunities as well as seminars on effectively managing restructuring events. Registered guests of conference attendees, including spouses or partners, will have complete access to the Center's resources.
“We are in challenging times with historic job loss and unemployment that is affecting practically every company and every aspect of the U.S. and the global economy,” said SHRM Chief Operating Officer China Gorman. “SHRM is extremely pleased that LHH has stepped up to provide invaluable support to our members during our Annual Conference and know that the conference attendees will appreciate the complimentary job search expertise being offered during these tough times.”
“HR executives have very different needs today than they had in recent years,” said Peter Alcide , President and Chief Operating Officer of Lee Hecht Harrison . “We are proud to collaborate with SHRM to offer career transition resources at this important conference because we both understand how organizational change can affect a business and its human capital. As companies adjust to the current economic climate, HR professionals are responsible for effectively navigating their company's workforce initiatives, a task that is more challenging now than ever before. This can create additional pressure for HR teams, and LHH and SHRM are proud to work together to continue to best support this vital community of professionals in every way possible.”
Prior to the conference, attendees can check back here for further information about the Career Transition Center and to schedule one-on-one meetings with career consultants who will be in attendance and available to share their insights and expertise.
