About the Opportunity

A well-established and highly regarded commercial law firm is seeking a Construction and Engineering Solicitor or Associate to join its specialist Construction, Engineering and Projects team.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of complex and high-value projects for clients across a broad range of sectors. The team advises regional, national and international clients, including developers, contractors, consultants, subcontractors, investors and funders.

The Role

The successful candidate will join a busy and growing team, advising on a wide range of construction and engineering matters.

The role is primarily focused on non-contentious construction work, with responsibilities likely to include:

  • Drafting, negotiating and advising on construction contracts.
  • Advising on industry-standard contract forms, including JCT and NEC contracts.
  • Preparing and reviewing professional appointments.
  • Drafting and negotiating collateral warranties and ancillary project documentation.
  • Supporting clients through the lifecycle of construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Providing commercially focused legal advice to a varied client base.

While the position is predominantly non-contentious, candidates with a mix of contentious and non-contentious construction experience are also encouraged to apply.

Candidate Profile

The firm is looking for an ambitious and commercially minded solicitor with:

  • A minimum of 2 years' PQE in construction law.
  • Strong non-contentious construction experience.
  • Experience advising on JCT, NEC and related construction documentation.
  • Knowledge of professional appointments and collateral warranties.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and client relationship management abilities.
  • A proactive approach to business development.
  • A genuine desire to develop professionally within a collaborative team environment.
