Fire, Health and Safety Advisor

Location: Remote, with regular travel across the UK
Salary: Up to £43,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + £4,800 annual car allowance

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Fire, Health and Safety Advisor to support a diverse portfolio of services across the UK, including residential settings, supported living, education and office environments.

Working remotely with frequent travel to operational sites, you will play a key role in providing expert advice on fire safety, health and safety compliance, and risk management. You will work closely with operational teams and senior stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with legislation, and drive continuous improvement.

Please note: Regular UK-wide travel is required, including occasional overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct fire, health and safety risk assessments across a range of operational environments
• Carry out audits, inspections and compliance visits to ensure adherence to legislation and best practice
• Provide expert guidance on UK health and safety and fire safety legislation
• Develop and review policies, procedures, and safe systems of work
• Support managers in maintaining compliance with regulatory bodies (e.g. CQC, Ofsted, Local Authorities)
• Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending improvements
• Monitor and analyse incident data, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with RIDDOR
• Deliver health, safety and fire safety training to employees and managers
• Advise on fire safety arrangements including evacuation plans, PEEPs and emergency preparedness
• Ensure contractor compliance and safe systems of work are in place
• Support maintenance of fire safety systems and statutory inspection programmes
• Produce reports, action plans and management insights to drive continuous improvement
• Liaise with external bodies such as HSE, Fire & Rescue Services and auditors
• Promote a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture across all sites

About You

You will be a driven and self-motivated professional with strong technical knowledge and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Essential criteria:

• Level 4 qualification in Health & Safety and/or Fire Safety
  (or Level 3 with at least 3 years' relevant experience)
• Experience conducting Fire Risk Assessments in line with current legislation
• Strong knowledge of UK legislation including:
  • Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
  • Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
  • Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
  • RIDDOR, COSHH, PUWER, LOLER
• Experience with audits, inspections, and incident investigations
• Ability to develop policies, procedures and risk assessments
• Experience delivering training and coaching teams
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and incident reporting systems
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
• Commitment to ongoing professional development
