The Opportunity
The successful candidate will work as part of a specialist Employment team advising clients on both contentious and non-contentious employment law matters.
You will support partners and senior colleagues on complex matters while also managing your own caseload and developing direct client relationships. The role offers exposure to a broad range of work and the opportunity to supervise and mentor junior lawyers.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Advising employers on day-to-day employment law issues.
- Supporting clients through complex workplace matters, including disciplinary and grievance processes, discrimination issues, flexible working requests and workforce restructures.
- Defending Employment Tribunal claims, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing and equal pay cases.
- Advising on high-value employment disputes and settlement negotiations.
- Supporting clients on transactional employment matters, including due diligence and TUPE issues arising from corporate transactions.
- Assisting with restrictive covenant, confidentiality and team move disputes.
- Advising on collective employment matters, including trade union and industrial relations issues.
- Delivering practical, commercially focused advice to UK and international clients.
- Supervising and developing junior lawyers, trainees and paralegals.
- Managing client relationships and contributing to the growth and success of the practice.
As a Managing Associate, you will also play an active role in business development, client engagement and the delivery of strategic projects and complex matters.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- 8+ years' post-qualification experience in employment law.
- Experience gained within a recognised employment practice.
- Strong technical expertise across a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
- Excellent analytical, drafting and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding communication and relationship-management abilities.
- A commercial and pragmatic approach to client service.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers.
- Enthusiasm for business development and building client relationships.
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to teamwork.
Candidates should be comfortable managing their own matters while also contributing to larger team-based projects and client initiatives.
