The Opportunity
We are looking for a Planning Solicitor (1-5 years' PQE) to join our client's established and growing Planning team in Leeds or Newcastle.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a high-performing team, supporting senior colleagues on a wide range of complex and high-profile planning matters in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Your Role
You will be involved in a broad mix of contentious and non-contentious planning work, advising a diverse client base including developers, landowners, public sector bodies, and infrastructure organisations.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating planning agreements, including Section 106 agreements
· Advising on planning strategy, permissions, and conditions
· Supporting large-scale development and infrastructure projects, including involvement in inquiries and hearings
· Providing advice on Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) matters
· Advising on compulsory purchase and major infrastructure schemes
· Managing planning enforcement, judicial review, and related disputes
· Advising on highways and public rights of way matters
· Undertaking advocacy at hearings, inquiries, committees, and court proceedings
· Contributing to business development and client relationship activities
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
· Qualified Solicitor status (England & Wales) with at least 1 year of post-qualification experience in planning law
· Experience advising on a broad range of planning matters
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
· Excellent organisational and time management abilities
· The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
· Good IT and file management skills
· A proactive approach and strong attention to detail
