LHH is delighted to be working with a highly regarded national law firm to recruit an experienced Commercial Projects Solicitor into its growing team in Manchester.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior commercial lawyer to join a well established national practice working on high profile, high value projects and complex commercial contracts. The role offers the chance to advise on matters of national significance across a range of sectors, acting for both public sector and private sector clients.
Our client has a strong reputation in the projects space and continues to invest in the growth of its national team. This position would suit an ambitious and commercially minded lawyer looking for quality work, early responsibility and the opportunity to play a key role in major projects.
The opportunity
Joining a busy and collaborative projects team, you will work on a broad range of commercial projects and contracts, with the opportunity to gain exposure to procurement matters where of interest.
The team advises across a variety of sectors and frequently supports government bodies, contracting authorities and private sector organisations on strategically important and often complex contractual arrangements. The role offers excellent exposure to major public sector projects and significant client responsibility from the outset.
This is a position for someone who is confident, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of matters, while also working closely with colleagues across a national team.
Key responsibilities
You will be involved in:
  • Leading on major projects and helping to develop innovative contractual structures
  • Advising on complex commercial project arrangements and high value contracts
  • Supporting clients on major public sector procurements and related commercial matters
  • Advising on PFI expiry, variation matters and future public private partnership arrangements
  • Structuring, drafting and negotiating high value commercial contracts, including detailed financial and technical schedules
  • Managing and coordinating projects to ensure a seamless and high quality client service
  • Mentoring and supervising junior members of the team
  • Supporting training initiatives for both colleagues and clients
  • Leading and contributing to business development activity, including tenders, pitches, client training and marketing events
  • Developing procurement expertise or supporting procurement matters where relevant and of interest
About you
This opportunity is likely to suit a senior commercial lawyer with strong technical ability, excellent drafting skills and a pragmatic, client focused approach.
You will ideally have:
  • A minimum of 6 years' PQE
  • Significant experience in commercial law
  • Experience advising government departments or private sector businesses contracting with government
  • Strong drafting skills, ideally including exposure to complex service agreements or standard form public sector contracts
  • The ability to provide clear, practical and commercially focused advice
  • Confidence working collaboratively with clients and managing matters with a good degree of autonomy
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior colleagues
The following would be advantageous, though not essential:
  • Experience in public procurement
  • Existing security clearance
