Senior Residential Conveyancer | £40-55,000 DOE
Newcastle or Leeds
LHH Legal
This is an opportunity for an experienced residential conveyancer to work on a permanent basis within the part exchange team of a residential development unit based in Newcastle and Leeds.
This role would suit a residential conveyancer with at least three years' experience of managing a caseload of general residential property matters. It is essential that you can run transactions from initial instruction independently and have experience in both leasehold and freehold conveyancing.
The successful candidate will handle a wide range of transactions, including unregistered properties bought and sold by way of part exchange as part of plot sales processes for major national housebuilders. Responsibilities will include:
- Drafting and issuing conveyancing documentation
- Managing pre-contract enquiries
- Reviewing and reporting on title and searches
- Negotiating and exchanging contracts
- Managing completions
- Handling post-completion formalities, including SDLT submissions and Land Registry registrations
No prior experience of part exchange or plot sales is required.
The caseload will involve working to short turnaround times, requiring efficiency and strong organisational skills.
The team
You will join a highly regarded residential development and urban regeneration legal team acting for an impressive client base of leading UK housebuilders, institutional landowners, and major property sector organisations.
A key feature of this role is the opportunity to work closely with a small number of high-value, repeat clients, allowing you to build strong, trusted relationships and gain a deep understanding of their business and transaction processes. This is not a high-volume, impersonal caseload-rather, it offers direct exposure to key clients and consistent points of contact, providing greater responsibility and visibility.
The wider team operates across multiple offices in England and forms part of a multidisciplinary property group, bringing together legal professionals and other specialists to deliver integrated services.
The person
The successful candidate will be personable, enthusiastic, and confident, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients. You will also demonstrate:
- At least three years' residential conveyancing experience
- Strong commercial awareness
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in client-facing situations
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and develop
- Strong attention to detail
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritise workload effectively
- Proactive approach to work
- Good IT skills
- Professionalism and discretion
You should be capable of managing your own caseload with minimal supervision, working efficiently under pressure while delivering a high standard of client service.
Benefits
The organisation offers a competitive remuneration package, including performance-related bonus opportunities.
Additional benefits include:
- Learning and development programmes to support career progression
- Flexible benefits package (including additional annual leave options)
- Employee assistance programme
- Pension and healthcare options
- Online learning and wellbeing resources
Culture and values
The organisation prides itself on being forward-thinking, collaborative, and solution-focused, supporting a broad client base ranging from large corporates to private individuals. A strong emphasis is placed on long-term client relationships, quality of service, and professional development.
Diversity, inclusion and wellbeing
Diversity, inclusion and wellbeing are central to the organisation's culture. Applications are welcomed from individuals of all backgrounds, and equal opportunities are provided regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation, disability, or cultural background.
Flexible working arrangements are supported to promote a healthy work-life balance.
