Solicitor / Associate / Senior Associate - Clinical Risk (Medical Malpractice)
Bristol | Hybrid Working (2 days in the office) | £45,000-£70,000 DOE + Bonus
An established national law firm is looking to appoint a Solicitor or Associate to join its Clinical Risk team in Bristol. This opportunity is suited to lawyers from 0-5 years' PQE, with flexibility for the right candidate.
Applications are welcomed from solicitors with experience in:
- Clinical negligence (claimant or defendant)
- Defendant personal injury
- Insurance litigation, particularly where there is exposure to medical malpractice or healthcare claims
Candidates from claimant clinical negligence backgrounds are encouraged to apply, particularly those with around two years' PQE or more who are looking to move into defendant work.
The Role
You will manage a varied caseload of defendant clinical negligence claims, acting on behalf of healthcare providers, insurers and other insured clients. The work includes:
- Managing claims from inception through to resolution
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements and other legal documents
- Preparing matters for court, mediation and settlement negotiations
- Advising clients on legal strategy and risk
- Maintaining strong client relationships and providing commercially focused advice
- Meeting court deadlines and managing cases through a case management system
- Contributing to business development, knowledge sharing and training initiatives
About You
You will be a qualified Solicitor or Associate with:
- 0-5 years' PQE
- Experience in clinical negligence, personal injury, civil litigation or insurance litigation
- Strong technical ability and excellent organisational skills
- A pragmatic, commercial approach to legal issues
- The ability to manage multiple matters effectively while delivering excellent client service
- A collaborative approach and willingness to support junior colleagues where appropriate
Previous experience at an NHS Resolution or Medical Defence Organisation panel firm would be advantageous but is not essential.
