LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for an accounting clerk for a client in the Newport Kentucky area. The Accounting Clerk supports daily accounting operations with a strong focus on transactional accounting while assisting with reporting and compliance activities. This role works closely with internal teams and external customers and vendors to ensure accurate processing, timely follow-up, and proper reconciliation to the general ledger. This position is temp to hire and will pay between $45K and $55K annually.

LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for an accounting clerk for a client in the Newport Kentucky area. The Accounting Clerk supports daily accounting operations with a strong focus on transactional accounting while assisting with reporting and compliance activities. This role works closely with internal teams and external customers and vendors to ensure accurate processing, timely follow-up, and proper reconciliation to the general ledger. This position is temp to hire and will pay between $45K and $55K annually.
Job Duties:
- Process accounts payable invoices, including coding, matching, and entering invoices while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
- Prepare and issue customer invoices, track billing status, and resolve billing discrepancies
- Apply customer payments accurately through cash application, including ACH, wire, and check payments
- Perform business-to-business collections by following up on outstanding receivables, maintaining professional customer communication, and documenting collection activity
- Assist with preparing and filing sales and use tax returns, ensuring accurate reporting and timely submission
- Reconcile subledgers for accounts payable and accounts receivable and balance activity to the general ledger
- Research and resolve discrepancies related to invoicing, payments, tax reporting, and account balances
- Assist with month-end close activities, including reconciliations and supporting documentation
- Maintain accurate records and support audit and internal review requests as needed
- Collaborate with internal departments to improve processes related to billing, payments, and compliance
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in an accounting clerk, accounts payable, or accounts receivable role
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable processing, billing, cash application, and collections
- Exposure to sales and use tax preparation and basic tax compliance requirements
- Working knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliations
- Proficiency with accounting software and strong Excel skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in transactional work
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with customers, vendors, and internal teams
