LHH Recruitment Solutions has partnered with a growing manufacturing organization in Reading, PA to identify an experienced Accounting Manager to join their team.
This Accounting Manager will play a key role in supporting multi?plant operations, driving process improvements, and strengthening the financial foundation of a rapidly scaling, private?equity?backed environment.

Title: Accounting Manager
Location: Onsite — Reading, PA
Compensation: $100,000- $120,000 salary 
Preferred Certifications: CPA and/or MBA

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly close for corporate and plant entities; prepare and review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Manage cost accounting across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods; ensure accurate standard costs, BOM/routings, PPV tracking, and overhead absorption.
  • Build and maintain budget-to-actual reporting; analyze trends, drivers, and risks; deliver executive-ready commentary.
  • Partner with plant leadership on production metrics, scrap/yield, cycle counts, inventory accuracy, and physical inventories.
  • Prepare and book payroll journal entries; reconcile payroll-related GL accounts and support payroll tax filings in coordination with third parties.
  • Support external audit and review engagements—prepare PBCs, respond to audit inquiries, and implement control and process improvements.
  • Liaise with outsourced CFO on cash flow, working capital, covenant tracking, and board-ready reporting packages.
  • Assist with PE reporting cadence (monthly KPI packs, EBITDA bridges, operational dashboards) and ad-hoc analytics.
  • Contribute to M\&A activities: financial diligence support, data room requests, integration checklists, opening balance sheets, and policy alignment.
  • Enhance internal controls across revenue, payables, inventory, payroll, and closing cycles; document SOPs and drive compliance.
  • Collaborate with Logistics on freight costing, landed cost accuracy, carrier accruals, and margin impacts; reconcile freight and accessorial charges.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to streamline order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, and inventory processes; partner with IT on ERP/reporting improvements.
  • Prepare sales, margin, and customer/product profitability analyses; identify pricing, mix, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support tax partners with sales/use tax, payroll tax support, and annual provision inputs.
  • Mentor staff and create scalable processes as the team grows; provide coverage for shared accounting responsibilities.
  • Maintain GAAP-compliant records and ensure timely, accurate financial statements for corporate and plant operations.
  • Manage fixed assets and capex tracking; oversee capitalization policy, asset tagging, and depreciation schedules.
  • Oversee intercompany transactions and eliminations; ensure accuracy across multiple facilities.
  • Generate executive-level materials for monthly reviews, lender/PE updates, and operational meetings.
  • Drive continuous improvement across close timelines, accuracy, and reporting quality.

Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience in manufacturing (polymers, packaging, or discrete/continuous process preferred).
  • Strong cost accounting, inventory, and standard costing experience.
  • Private equity reporting exposure and comfort with fast-paced, change-oriented environments.
  • Advanced Excel; ERP experience in a multi-plant setting.
  • CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
