Position Overview
A well‑established non-profit organization is seeking an AP Accountant to support its accounting operations in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment. This role goes beyond transactional AP and will have ownership over invoice processing, reconciliations, vendor compliance, and support of month‑end close activities.
The ideal candidate brings strong accounts payable fundamentals, solid accounting knowledge, and the ability to work independently while partnering closely with finance leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Own end‑to‑end accounts payable processing, including invoice review, coding, and entry for assigned vendors and cost centers
Ensure invoices are properly approved, accurately coded, and aligned with internal policies
Maintain vendor records, including W‑9 documentation and compliance requirements
Perform AP‑related reconciliations, including vendor statements, clearing accounts, and accruals
Support month‑end close by preparing AP schedules, resolving open items, and assisting with variance research
Partner with internal departments to resolve discrepancies, clarify charges, and improve invoice workflows
Assist with audit requests by providing documentation and support related to accounts payable activity
Participate in process improvement efforts, particularly around system usage, documentation, and efficiency
Adapt to evolving systems and workflows in a dynamic environment
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required (Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field)
2+ years of experience in accounts payable or accounting roles
Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals and internal controls
Experience working in high‑volume, multi‑department environments
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (sorting, filtering, basic formulas)
Experience with accounting systems; ability to adapt during system transitions
Preferred Experience
Exposure to ERP systems such as QuickBooks, Workday, or similar platforms
Experience supporting audits or compliance reviews
Comfort working onsite as part of a collaborative accounting team
