Accounts Payable Manager

We’re working with a growing organization in the Grand Rapids area that is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead and oversee the full accounts payable function. This role will manage a team, ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments, and drive process improvements across AP operations. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, a hands‑on approach, and experience in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the accounts payable team, including daily workflow, training, and performance management
Oversee full-cycle accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, payment runs, and expense reporting
Ensure timely and accurate vendor payments while maintaining strong vendor relationships
Review and approve complex invoices, reconciliations, and payment exceptions
Maintain and enforce AP policies, procedures, and internal controls
Manage month-end close activities related to accounts payable, including accruals and reconciliations
Support audit requests and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
Drive process improvements and support automation initiatives to increase efficiency
Prepare and report AP metrics, aging reports, and cash disbursement summaries for leadership
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
5–8+ years of progressive accounts payable experience
2+ years of people leadership or supervisory experience required
Strong knowledge of full-cycle AP, internal controls, and month-end close
Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or mid-sized corporate environments preferred
ERP system experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar)
Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
