Accounts Payable Specialist – Houston, TX

Contract | Open-Ended | $22.00/hr – $26.50/hr

About the Opportunity
Our client, a well‑established company in Houston, is seeking a detail‑oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join their team on an open‑ended contract basis. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, takes ownership of their work, and enjoys contributing to a collaborative accounting team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process high‑volume vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner

  • Match, batch, and code invoices in accordance with company policies

  • Reconcile vendor statements and research discrepancies

  • Assist with weekly check runs, ACH payments, and expense reports

  • Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve billing issues

  • Maintain organized AP records and support month‑end close activities

  • Provide general accounting support as needed


Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Accounts Payable experience

  • Strong understanding of invoice flow and AP best practices

  • Solid Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables preferred)

  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) a plus

  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and follow‑through

  • Strong communication and problem‑solving skills

  • Compensation: $22.00/hr – $27.00/hr, depending on experience

  • Assignment: Open‑ended contract with long‑term potential
