Job Title: Accounting Specialist
Location: Kansas City, MO (Onsite)
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire

Job Summary:
LHH Recruitment is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support daily accounting operations in an on-site, contract-to-hire role in Kansas City, MO. This position will focus heavily on hands-on accounts receivable functions, including manual invoicing, cash application, and payment tracking. This role requires a high level of accuracy and organization due to the volume of manual processes, physical documentation, and ongoing management of accounting communications. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a process-driven environment with a mix of AR ownership and light AP support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and send customer invoices, including a high volume of manual invoicing

  • Post cash receipts and accurately apply payments to customer accounts

  • Track commissions and maintain supporting documentation for reporting purposes

  • Monitor and update accounts receivable records, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

  • Research and resolve payment discrepancies, short pays, and customer inquiries

  • Maintain organized physical filing systems and electronic records for invoices, payments, and supporting documents

  • Manage and respond to accounts receivable and accounts payable shared email inboxes

  • Provide accounts payable support, including invoice entry, matching, and filing

  • Assist with general accounting tasks and administrative duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in accounts receivable, accounting clerk, or similar role

  • Experience with invoicing, cash receipts, and payment posting required

  • Exposure to accounts payable processes strongly preferred

  • Comfort working with manual processes, including physical filing and high data entry volume

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting systems

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Work Environment:

Pay Details: $50,000.00 to $70,000.00 per year
