Assistant Controller

LHH is partnering with a leading advanced materials and specialty metals manufacturing company on a search for an Assistant Controller to join their Newton location. This position will manage the plant’s accounting activities, lead the monthly close process, and provide financial analysis that supports operational decision-making. The Assistant Controller will partner closely with the Plant Controller and Director of Finance on budgeting, forecasting, inventory, cost analysis, and process improvement initiatives. This is a direct hire job, offering a salary between $105K–$110K. Here are some more details to consider:

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead month-end closing activities for the Newton plant, including preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and producing management reports.

• Support monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, cycle counts, physical inventories, and plant cost center reporting.

• Analyze production order activity, spending and absorption variances, inventory valuation, and other plant financial results to identify opportunities for improvement.

• Partner with operations, engineering, and finance teams on standard costing, capital project business cases, financial analysis, audit requirements, and compliance with US GAAP, company policies, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Minimum of five years of accounting or finance experience, including manufacturing or plant accounting experience.

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, cost analysis, budgeting, and forecasting; SAP experience is preferred.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with a strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, and continuous improvement mindset.
