Billing Assistant

LHH has partned with a large non-profit organization located in Manhattan on this Billing Assistant position. This individual will play a key role in managing billing operations, with a strong focus on Medicaid and Managed Care Organization (MCO) billing. The ideal candidate brings prior experience in healthcare or nonprofit environments and thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven setting. This position is fully onsite during the temporary duration, with the option to go hybrid once converting to a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and submit Medicaid and MCO claims in a timely and accurate manner
Monitor billing workflows to ensure compliance with payer requirements and organizational policies
Investigate and resolve claim rejections, denials, and discrepancies
Maintain accurate billing records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
Reconcile accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding balances
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper coding, documentation, and billing processes
Assist with month-end billing close and reporting activities
Support audits by gathering necessary documentation and responding to inquiries
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and patient information
Qualifications
1+ year of billing experience, preferably in Medicaid and MCO billing
Prior experience in a nonprofit or healthcare organization strongly preferred
Familiarity with billing systems and electronic health record (EHR) platforms
Strong understanding of healthcare billing regulations and compliance requirements
Pay Details: $27.00 to $35.00 per hour
