LHH is partnering with a reputable commercial-based construction organization based in Morris County, NJ that is looking to bring on a Full-Charge Bookkeeper to their team. The ideal candidate will be highly self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. A strong grasp of accounting systems and proficiency in Excel are essential. The role requires full responsibility of the month-end close process and a solid understanding of bookkeeping functions. Construction industry experience preferred.

Job Description:

Accounting Functions (80%)

  • Accounts Receivable: invoice/requisition preparation, lien waiver preparation, invoice journal reconciliation, monthly statements, ST-8 form requests and follow-up calls, obtain project Certificate of Insurance

  • Accounts Payable: process vendor invoices, calculate general conditions costs, produce payable report, prepare documentation for ACH payments, research vendor statements, monitor subcontractor insurance, obtain lien waivers

  • Project Cost Accounting: project cost analysis, process owner change orders, process subcontractor change orders, issue purchase orders, issue invoice rejection notices, track and calculate change order profitability

  • General Ledger: reconcile general ledger, post journal entries, reconcile bank statements

  • Miscellaneous: project costing – budget reports, project close-out reconciliation, interface with external accountant, monthly bank reconciliation

  • Administrative: collect time sheets for payroll, track job related labor

  • Review monthly corporate AMEX statement

  • Getting time sheets together for payroll (they use a 3rd party for payroll)

  • Liaison for outside CPA firm

Miscellaneous Administrative Tasks (20%)

  • Miscellaneous tasks as required

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

  • Minimum 5-year accounting or related field experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Effective problem-solving skills for complex issues

  • Strong analytical, time management and multi-tasking skills

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Self-starter who demonstrates a positive attitude and integrity in all business relationships

  • Construction oriented accounting package with training provided

  • Commercial Construction industry preferred
