Cash Application Specialist

LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for a Cash Application Specialist for a fully onsite role in Schaumburg, IL. This is a great opportunity for someone with hands‑on cash application experience or a recent accounting graduate with strong critical thinking skills who is looking to grow their accounting career.

Pay: $20–25 per hour, based on experience

Responsibilities:

• Apply and post daily customer payments accurately and timely

• Research and resolve unapplied cash, short payments, overpayments, and discrepancies

• Reconcile customer accounts and assist with AR aging

• Communicate with internal teams and customers to resolve payment issues

• Maintain accurate records and documentation to support month‑end close

• Assist with other accounting or accounts receivable tasks as needed

Qualifications:

• Prior cash application, accounts receivable, or accounting experience
  OR
  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills

• High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment

• Proficiency with Excel; accounting or ERP system experience a plus

This role offers hands‑on exposure to core accounting functions with opportunity for growth.
