Civil Litigation Defense Paralegal

Salary Range: $70,000–$90,000 (commensurate with experience)

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Chicago, IL

Overview:

LHH has partnered with a growing boutique firm in Chicago to identify an experienced Civil Litigation Defense Paralegal to support attorneys in all phases of defense litigation. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong litigation support experience and proficiency in Odyssey and PACER filing systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive litigation support from case inception through trial

  • Draft and file pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents

  • Perform electronic filings via Odyssey and PACER

  • Manage case calendars, deadlines, and court schedules

  • Assist with discovery, including document review, production, and coordination

  • Maintain and organize physical and electronic case files

  • Communicate with courts, clients, experts, and opposing counsel

  • Support trial preparation, including exhibits and witness materials

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3+ years of civil litigation defense paralegal experience

  • Required experience with Odyssey and PACER filings

  • Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures and court rules

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills

  • Ability to manage multiple cases and priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting multiple attorneys

  • Prior defense-side litigation background
