Trade Compliance Specialist (Remote)
Location: Remote (U.S. Based)
Employment Type: Full-Time, 6 month contract
Pay Range: $42.00 – $54.00 per hour (based on experience and location)
Summary of Job Purpose:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Trade Compliance Specialist to support multiple U.S.-based operations. This role ensures full adherence to U.S. trade compliance regulations including ITAR, EAR, OFAC, C-TPAT, and other applicable programs. The ideal candidate will be able to step in quickly and manage responsibilities independently during a temporary increase in workload.
Key Responsibilities:
Export/Import Compliance
Interpret and apply International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and related compliance standards.
Prepare, submit, and monitor export license applications, Technical Assistance Agreements, and jurisdiction/classification requests.
Coordinate with compliance stakeholders to ensure accurate classification of goods and proper licensing.
Interface with U.S. customs brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers to resolve import/export issues.
Maintain and monitor export systems for AES filings, denied party screenings, and license management.
Auditing & Training
Conduct internal compliance training across various departments.
Perform audits and support investigations, implementing corrective actions where needed.
Ensure import/export documentation is accurately completed and properly retained.
Program Compliance
Monitor compliance with C-TPAT guidelines.
Assist in implementing site audits and compliance improvement initiatives.
Support the management of compliance-related documentation and internal procedures.
Requirements:
Experience Level:
4+ years of experience in trade compliance, international logistics, or related field
Preferred Certifications:
Valid ITAR license
Trade Compliance Certifications such as:
CBG Trade Certification
Associate Certified Sanction Specialist (ACSS)
Required Skills & Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of HTS codes and harmonized tariff schedules
Experience working with and managing U.S. customs brokers and international shipments
Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems
Knowledge of export licensing, sanction screening, and classification procedures
Ability to manage trade compliance responsibilities independently in a remote work environment
