Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (W-2 only – No C2C or 1099)
Pay Rate: Up to $47.12/hr (W-2)
Conversion Salary: $98,000 annually
Overview
We’re seeking an experienced Database Administrator to support a major healthcare and education organization in San Francisco. This role is 100% onsite and ideal for a hands-on DBA who enjoys both end-user support and complex system work within a mission-driven environment.
The organization is currently transitioning from the Axium platform to Epic (Wisdom). The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting existing systems while assisting with data migration, validation, and post-go-live support as the new Epic environment is implemented.
Key Responsibilities
Support and maintain database environments, ensuring optimal performance, data integrity, and security.
Provide user and system support for both current and new applications.
Review existing system capabilities and recommend or implement enhancements.
Collaborate with IT, application, and network teams to ensure seamless database integration and reliability.
Participate in the Axium-to-Epic migration project, including data extraction, transformation, validation, and troubleshooting during transition.
Monitor and tune database performance; perform regular backups and recovery testing.
Document procedures, configurations, and performance metrics.
Maintain compliance with organizational standards for privacy, security, and data handling.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of hands-on database administration experience.
Proficiency in Oracle Database (primary environment).
Strong command of SQL and Python (5+ years).
Experience with data migration and ETL processes; prior work supporting Epic or other EHR systems strongly preferred.
Familiarity with Axium or other healthcare/education data systems a plus.
Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (Master’s in IT or Database Administration required for conversion eligibility).
Additional Details
Schedule: Monday – Friday, onsite in downtown San Francisco.
Type: Contract-to-Hire; conversion contingent on performance and internal approval.
Work Authorization: W-2 only (no C2C or 1099).
Environment: Professional campus setting near BART and Muni transit options; business casual dress code.
Pay Details: $43.00 to $47.12 per hour
