Employee Relations Specialist (Remote – San Diego Based)
A growing construction and real estate organization is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to support the HR team on a temporary basis. This role will focus on managing employee relations matters across a multi-state workforce while ensuring consistency, compliance, and strong partnership with leadership.
Location: Fully remote, with occasional onsite visits to San Diego (92122) as needed
Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours (flex within 8:00am–5:00pm)
Duration: Approximately 4 months
Pay: $28–34/hour, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations issues across multiple states
  • Advise managers on performance management, policy interpretation, and corrective actions
  • Conduct and document employee investigations, including sensitive workplace concerns
  • Ensure consistent application of policies and compliance with multi-state employment laws
  • Partner with HR leadership to manage risk and support business needs
  • Support leave of absence and accommodation processes as needed
  • Maintain accurate, confidential documentation related to employee relations cases
  • Provide guidance and coaching to leaders to promote a positive and compliant work environment
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of employee relations or HR experience with strong ER focus
  • Experience supporting a multi-state workforce required
  • Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws (California experience required)
  • Proven experience handling investigations, disciplinary actions, and employee counseling
  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion and sound judgment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner with leaders at all levels
  • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, remote environment

Pay Details: $28.00 to $34.00 per hour
