This role will serve as the primary HR leader onsite, partnering closely with plant leadership to manage employee relations, labor relations, compliance, and day-to-day HR operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is ideal for an HR professional who is comfortable being on the floor, understands union dynamics, and can balance contract adherence with a people-first, business-minded approach.

This role will serve as the primary HR leader onsite, partnering closely with plant leadership to manage employee relations, labor relations, compliance, and day-to-day HR operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position is ideal for an HR professional who is comfortable being on the floor, understands union dynamics, and can balance contract adherence with a people-first, business-minded approach.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as the primary HR contact for a unionized manufacturing workforce
- Partner with plant leadership on employee relations, workforce planning, and performance management
- Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and ensure consistent application
- Manage union interactions, including grievances, investigations, disciplinary actions, and documentation
- Support labor relations activities and assist with union meetings as needed
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, safety regulations, and labor standards
- Oversee full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, and retention efforts for plant employees
- Manage HR policies, procedures, and handbook updates aligned with union agreements
- Coordinate benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee communications
- Partner with payroll to ensure accurate timekeeping, attendance, and wage administration
- Support training initiatives, safety programs, and workforce development efforts
- Handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism, fairness, and consistency
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Direct experience supporting union employees and working with CBAs
- Strong background in employee relations, investigations, and grievance handling
- Working knowledge of labor and employment laws (FMLA, ADA, OSHA, wage & hour, etc.)
- Experience partnering with plant leadership and frontline supervisors
- Comfortable being hands-on and visible on the manufacturing floor
- Strong communication, documentation, and conflict-resolution skills
- HRIS, payroll, and benefits administration experience preferred
Pay Details: $85,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year
