Interim Controller
IT & Digital
We are seeking an experienced Interim Controller to support a small manufacturing organization during a period of transition. This individual will oversee the day-to-day accounting and financial operations while maintaining accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and reliable financial processes.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting leader who is comfortable working in a smaller-company environment where responsibilities may span both strategic oversight and transactional accounting. Manufacturing accounting experience and SAP experience are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and account reconciliations.
Lead monthly and year-end close processes and ensure financial statements are completed accurately and timely.
Prepare and review financial reports, balance sheets, income statements, and supporting schedules.
Manage manufacturing accounting activities, including inventory, cost accounting, standard costs, variances, and COGS.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial processes.
Monitor cash flow, expenses, working capital, and overall financial performance.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Utilize SAP for accounting, reporting, transaction review, and financial data management.
Partner with operations and company leadership to provide insight into costs, margins, inventory, and business performance.
Support audit preparation and respond to requests for financial documentation.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and overall efficiency.
Provide guidance and oversight to accounting staff while remaining willing to step into the details when needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accounting leadership experience.
Strong manufacturing accounting background.
Experience with inventory, cost accounting, COGS, and variance analysis.
Hands-on experience with SAP strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
Experience managing month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
Comfortable working within a small, hands-on company environment.
Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
Ability to quickly assess accounting processes and provide stability during an interim assignment.
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone who can step in quickly, take ownership of the accounting function, and operate independently without needing a large corporate accounting infrastructure. They should be equally comfortable reviewing financial statements with leadership and getting into the details of reconciliations, inventory, costs, and SAP transactions.
