Junior Estimator (Commercial HVAC)

📍 Fort Lauderdale, FL | Onsite | Full-Time

LHH is partnering with a leading commercial mechanical contractor to identify a Junior Estimator who is eager to grow within a fast-paced, technically driven environment. This role offers strong mentorship, exposure to large-scale commercial projects, and the opportunity to develop into a key contributor within the estimating function.


🎯 Position Overview

The Junior Estimator will support the estimating team by reviewing project plans and specifications, performing takeoffs, and assisting in the development of competitive bids. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely estimates for complex commercial HVAC projects including high-rise buildings, schools, and large-scale facilities.


🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Review bid specifications, blueprints, and mechanical drawings

  • Perform accurate takeoffs for piping, equipment, and materials

  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, bids, and proposals

  • Support bid-day activities, including vendor and subcontractor coordination

  • Develop and track RFIs, clarifications, and bid documentation

  • Maintain communication with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams

  • Input and manage data in estimating software systems

  • Collaborate with project management to ensure a smooth handoff from bid to execution

  • Participate in bid analysis and scope reviews


✅ Qualifications

  • 2–3+ years of experience in estimating, construction, or mechanical systems support

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and drawings

  • Basic understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems (chilled water, condenser systems, etc.)

  • Familiarity with takeoffs and cost estimation processes

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating tools (or exposure to platforms such as Quote Express, FastPIPE, or similar)

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with vendors and clients

  • Stable work history with tenure of 2+ years preferred


💼 Preferred

  • Experience in commercial HVAC or mechanical contracting

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

  • Exposure to large-scale commercial projects ($3M+)
