Load Planner (Temp to Hire)

Location: Chicago, IL (Onsite)

Pay: $25–32/hour (depending on experience)

Schedule: Monday–Friday | Standard business hours

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Load Planner to join a fast?paced transportation and logistics operation in Chicago. This temp to hire role is responsible for planning and optimizing freight loads to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and on-time deliveries while supporting daily transportation operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and build efficient loads to maximize trailer capacity and minimize transportation costs

  • Coordinate daily shipment schedules based on volume, delivery requirements, and equipment availability

  • Work closely with transportation, dispatch, warehouse, and customer service teams to execute load plans

  • Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and related systems to create, adjust, and track loads

  • Monitor shipment execution and proactively address service issues or changes

  • Ensure compliance with weight limits, routing requirements, and customer expectations

  • Maintain accurate load documentation and support reporting as needed

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Load Planner, Transportation Planner, or similar logistics role

  • Strong understanding of freight optimization, routing, and capacity planning

  • Hands-on experience with TMS and transportation-related systems

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and logistics reporting tools preferred

 



Pay Details: $25.00 to $32.00 per hour
