Payroll Accountant | Detroit, MI (Hybrid)
Direct Hire | $65,000 – $75,000 + Benefits
LHH Recruitment Solutions is supporting our client located in Detroit, MI in their search for a Payroll Accountant.
This position is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in payroll and accounting. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate payroll processing while supporting payroll and benefits accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliations in partnership with the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities:
Process and review biweekly payroll with a high level of accuracy
Perform payroll-related journal entries and general ledger postings
Complete payroll, benefits, and tax account reconciliations
Support benefits accounting, including tracking and reconciling benefit-related expenses (e.g., 401(k), healthcare, deductions)
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes related to payroll and benefits
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Partner with HR on employee data changes, deductions, and benefits administration
Assist with audit preparation, reporting, and documentation
Analyze payroll and benefits data to support financial accuracy and decision-making
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in payroll and/or payroll accounting
Strong understanding of general ledger, reconciliations, and benefits accounting
Experience with payroll systems (ADP or similar preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (reporting, data analysis)
High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Pay Details: $65,000.00 to $75,000.00 per year
