Payroll Accountant | Detroit, MI (Hybrid)

LHH Recruitment Solutions is supporting our client located in Detroit, MI in their search for a Payroll Accountant.

This position is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in payroll and accounting. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate payroll processing while supporting payroll and benefits accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliations in partnership with the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process and review biweekly payroll with a high level of accuracy

• Perform payroll-related journal entries and general ledger postings

• Complete payroll, benefits, and tax account reconciliations

• Support benefits accounting, including tracking and reconciling benefit-related expenses (e.g., 401(k), healthcare, deductions)

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes related to payroll and benefits

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations

• Partner with HR on employee data changes, deductions, and benefits administration

• Assist with audit preparation, reporting, and documentation

• Analyze payroll and benefits data to support financial accuracy and decision-making

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in payroll and/or payroll accounting

• Strong understanding of general ledger, reconciliations, and benefits accounting

• Experience with payroll systems (ADP or similar preferred)

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (reporting, data analysis)

• High attention to detail with strong organizational skills

• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

Pay Details: $65,000.00 to $75,000.00 per year
