Payroll Specialist
Detroit, MI | Contract‑to‑Hire | Fully On‑Site
LHH Recruitment Solutions is supporting a non‑profit client located in Detroit, MI that is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their team. This is a Contract‑to‑Hire opportunity offering stability, competitive pay, and a collaborative work environment.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Compensation: $28.00 – $31.00 per hour
Work Setting: Fully On‑Site (Paid Parking Provided)
Key Responsibilities:
Process bi‑weekly payroll accurately and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Maintain employee payroll records, including pay rates, deductions, garnishments, and benefits
Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries
Ensure timely tax filings, payroll reporting, and reconciliations
Partner with HR and Finance teams to support audits and reporting needs
Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee data
Qualifications:
Proven experience processing payroll in a high‑volume environment
Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices
High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
Proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
Experience in a non‑profit environment is a plus
