Payroll Specialist

Location: Detroit, MI
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (some flexibility with start times)
Work Environment: Fully On-site | Paid Parking Provided
Compensation: $30–$34/hour

LHH Recruitment Solutions is supporting a client in Detroit, MI in their search for a Payroll Specialist. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering stability, competitive pay, and the chance to join a collaborative, on-site team environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process full-cycle payroll accurately and timely on a recurring basis

  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and changes

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations

  • Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies

  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries professionally and promptly

  • Partner with HR and Accounting teams to ensure accurate data flow and reporting

  • Support payroll audits and year-end processing as needed


Qualifications:

  • Previous payroll processing experience required

  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to work on-site and meet consistent payroll deadlines

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
