Position Overview
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing accurate, timely payroll for a multi‑state employee population while ensuring compliance with all payroll regulations. This role is fully onsite in Indianapolis and partners closely with Accounting, HR, executives, and department leaders. The Payroll Specialist must be hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working as part of a collaborative team—not in isolation.
Key Responsibilities
Process bi‑monthly payroll for approximately 800 multi‑state employees (non‑union)
Verify timesheets, salary changes, bonuses, commissions, reimbursements, and deductions
Maintain accurate payroll records across payroll and HRIS systems
Prepare and reconcile payroll journal entries and general ledger accounts
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations
Process garnishments, child support, and other statutory withholdings
Support audits, reconciliations, year‑end processing, and W‑2 preparation
Participate in cross‑training and process improvement initiatives
Requirements
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
Minimum 5 years of payroll experience in a multi‑state environment
Experience processing payroll for mid‑to‑large organizations
Strong stability in work history required
Experience with UKG Pro, Deltek Vision, or Deltek Vantagepoint
Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance and wage/hour laws
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, reconciliations)
Ability to work onsite and collaborate closely with leadership
Highly professional communication style
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, fully onsite
Pay Details: $80,000.00 per year
