Payroll Specialist

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Onsite)

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (some flexibility)

Salary: $65k to $75k DOE

 

We’re partnering with a well-established and highly respected organization in Phoenix to find a Payroll Specialist to join their team onsite. This role will own the full payroll process as the sole payroll specialist, supporting a large, multi-state workforce. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and confident managing high-volume payroll independently.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Process full-cycle payroll for 500+ employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations

• Act as the sole payroll point of contact, owning the entire payroll function from start to finish

• Maintain and audit payroll data including wages, deductions, garnishments, and benefits

• Manage employee updates such as new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and tax setup

• Ensure accurate timekeeping and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner

• Partner closely with HR and Accounting to ensure alignment across systems and reporting

• Support payroll reporting, audits, and compliance requirements

• Stay current on payroll laws and multi-state regulations

 

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of recent payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing

• Experience processing payroll for 500+ employees required

• Prior experience as a sole payroll professional or working independently is strongly preferred

• Hands-on experience with UKG is required

• Union payroll experience is a plus

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Proficiency in Excel and payroll reporting

• Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset



Pay Details: $65,000.00 to $75,000.00 per year
