Position: Payroll Specialist
Location: Downtown Portland, OR
Job Type: Contract to Hire, Fully onsite, Full Time
Compensation: $29-$31 an hour

We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Specialist to join our client in Downtown Portland, OR. As an ideal candidate, you should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in full cycle payroll as well as high volume payroll processing experience (over 400+ employees).

Responsibilities:
  • Managing full cycle payroll in a team for a medium-size company (400+)
  • Maintain and verify the accuracy of all employees and payroll data within the payroll system.
  • Safeguard sensitive employee information and uphold strict confidentiality standards.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support year-end payroll functions, including tax filings and reporting (e.g., W-2s, union reports).
  • Assist the HR department with key functions such as recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, and employee terminations.
  • Perform other related duties as needed to support the payroll and HR functions.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience handling payroll, including payroll for at least 400 employees.
  • Construction industry background is preferred.
  • High attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and timeliness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
