A client is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their corporate team in Glen Allen, VA. This is a permanent, direct hire opportunity supporting a high-volume, multi-state payroll operation in a fast-paced environment.


Schedule & Work Environment

  • Hybrid: Work from home Monday & Friday; in-office Tuesday–Thursday (flexible based on payroll cycles)

  • Hours: Choose 8 working hours between 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM


Key Responsibilities

  • Process semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll for ~1,500 employees across 20+ states

  • Manage payroll for hourly, salaried, and commissioned employees across multiple pay groups

  • Maintain and update employee data: new hires, terminations, salary changes, tax updates, deductions, PTO

  • Partner with third-party provider to ensure payroll tax compliance and reporting

  • Transmit 401(k) contributions and support benefit deductions

  • Prepare payroll reports (earnings, taxes, deductions, etc.)

  • Support year-end processing (W-2s) and reconciliations

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure data confidentiality

  • Assist with audits, tax notices, and system updates


Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, Business, or related field

  • 3+ years of multi-state payroll experience (high-volume strongly preferred)

  • Experience processing payroll for 1,000+ employees

  • Exposure to payroll systems such as Workday, UKG (UltiPro), or similar

  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • CPP or FPC certification a plus



Pay Details: $29.00 to $32.00 per hour
