Position Overview

A growing organization is seeking a detail‑oriented Payroll Specialist to manage end‑to‑end payroll processing for approximately 200 hourly and salaried employees. This role is responsible for accurate, compliant payroll execution using ADP Workforce Now, with a strong emphasis on California payroll regulations, employee support, and cross‑functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate brings hands‑on payroll experience, strong knowledge of California labor laws, and a service‑oriented mindset when supporting employees and leadership.

 

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Processing

  • Process bi‑weekly payroll for approximately 200 employees (hourly and salaried) using ADP Workforce Now

  • Ensure accurate calculation of regular pay, overtime, double time, shift differentials, bonuses, and commissions

  • Review and validate timekeeping data prior to payroll submission

  • Process off‑cycle payrolls, adjustments, and retroactive pay as needed

California Payroll Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with California wage and hour laws, including:

    • Overtime and double‑time rules

    • Meal and rest period premium pay

    • Final paychecks and termination timelines

    • Sick leave and other state‑mandated leave requirements

  • Administer California SDI, PFL, and EDD reporting, including new hire reporting

  • Manage payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and quarterly/year‑end reporting (W‑2s, DE‑9/DE‑9C, etc.)

  • Maintain compliance with garnishments, levies, and wage assignments

Employee Support & Administration

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee payroll questions regarding pay, deductions, taxes, and timekeeping

  • Resolve payroll discrepancies promptly and professionally

  • Support onboarding and offboarding payroll activities, including final pay calculations

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation in accordance with internal controls

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Partner with HR, Finance, and Operations to ensure accurate employee data and payroll setup

  • Reconcile payroll reports and support month‑end and year‑end close activities

  • Assist with audits, payroll reviews, and compliance inquiries

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased payroll efficiency

 

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands‑on payroll experience

  • Strong experience with ADP Workforce Now (highly preferred)

  • Demonstrated knowledge of California payroll laws and compliance

  • Experience processing payroll for both hourly and salaried employees

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills



Pay Details: $28.00 to $33.00 per hour
