Payroll Specialist (Hybrid – Seattle, WA)

Location: Seattle (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite)
Pay Rate: $30–$38/hour (DOE)
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday


Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Specialist to join a growing team in Seattle. This role is responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience handling multi-state payroll in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Process full-cycle payroll for hourly and salaried employees on a bi-weekly or semi-monthly basis

  • Ensure accuracy of wages, deductions, bonuses, and commissions

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations

  • Handle payroll tax filings, wage garnishments, and benefits deductions

  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

  • Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data integrity in payroll systems

  • Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams regarding employee changes, audits, and reporting

  • Assist with year-end processes including W-2 preparation and audits

  • Respond to employee payroll-related inquiries professionally and promptly


Qualifications

  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience

  • Experience with multi-state payroll strongly preferred

  • Familiarity with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, or similar

  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws and tax regulations

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs a plus)

  • Strong organizational and communication skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) designation is a plus

  • Experience in a multi-entity or high-volume payroll environment

  • Exposure to HRIS systems and integrations
