LHH is proactively seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Purchasing Clerk / Procurement Assistant to join our client’s team on a contract basis in the Houston area. This role will support daily procurement and purchasing operations by processing purchase orders, coordinating with vendors, tracking deliveries, and maintaining accurate purchasing documentation. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills.

Position Overview
As a Purchasing Clerk / Procurement Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the procurement lifecycle—from requisition to delivery—while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely fulfillment of materials and services. This role works closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to support smooth purchasing operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the preparation, processing, and tracking of purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, delivery schedules, and order status.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, including purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and vendor documentation.
  • Verify order confirmations, receipts, and invoices; resolve discrepancies related to pricing, quantities, or deliveries.
  • Support vendor onboarding and maintain up-to-date supplier information in procurement systems.
  • Coordinate with internal departments (operations, finance, accounting, and logistics) to ensure purchasing needs are met.
  • Track open orders and proactively follow up on late or incomplete deliveries.
  • Assist with inventory-related activities, including confirming quantities and delivery timelines.
  • Enter and maintain accurate data in ERP/procurement systems and Excel-based tracking tools.
  • Support audits, reporting, and special procurement projects as needed.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing and procurement function.

Qualifications:
Education:
  • High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
  • 1–3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or an administrative support role within a corporate environment.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with ERP or procurement systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar) is a plus.
Core Competencies:
  • Strong attention to detail with high accuracy in data entry and documentation.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills when interacting with vendors and internal teams.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Team-oriented with a customer-service approach to internal stakeholders.
