LHH is seeking a Legal Assistant – Real Estate in Chicago, IL (Onsite – 5 days/week) for a law firm. Salary $60,000 - $80,000.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Legal Assistant to support a Real Estate practice group in Chicago. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex commercial real estate transactions while collaborating with a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit, format, and proofread documents in Microsoft Word and Excel (styles, headings, formatting)

  • Open new matters and manage conflict checks

  • Process daily time entry and support billing functions

  • Assist with client billing, including reviewing and editing pre-bills and ensuring compliance with client guidelines

  • Support attorneys with commercial real estate closings

  • Prepare closing binders and track post-closing deliverables

  • Create and edit PowerPoint presentations

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of firm and client information

  • Manage attorney calendars, travel, meetings, and expense reports


Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of legal assistant/secretarial experience in real estate law

  • Experience supporting commercial real estate transactions and closings

  • Strong organizational, communication, and client service skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • High attention to detail and collaborative mindset


Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in:

    • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

    • iManage

    • Aderant

  • Familiarity with legal and real estate terminology preferred

  • Experience working with institutional investors is a plus


Interview Process

  • 1st Round: Virtual interview with hiring manager and team

  • 2nd Round: Onsite interview with partners + skills assessment
