Senior Accountant (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Downtown Los Angeles
Hourly Pay: $38.00-$45.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-Time, Onsite

Our client, a mission-driven non-profit organization in Downtown Los Angeles, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team on a temp-to-hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about supporting organizations that make a positive community impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute month-end and year-end close processes.

• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, allocations, and adjustments.

• Perform and reconcile complex general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Prepare financial statements, supporting schedules, and internal reports.

• Assist with budget preparation, grant reporting, and restricted fund accounting.

• Support internal and external audits by compiling documentation and responding to requests.

• Analyze financial data, identify variances, and provide meaningful insights to management.

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.

• Collaborate cross‑functionally with program managers and leadership to gather financial information.

• Mentor junior accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred but not required.

• 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, non-profit experience strongly preferred.

• Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting.

• Experience with grant accounting, restricted funds, and budget monitoring is a plus.

• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., MIP Fund Accounting, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Non-Profit).

• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/INDEX MATCH, analytical formulas).

• Excellent attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and ability to work independently.

• Strong communication skills and ability to partner across teams.

Pay Details: $38.00 to $45.00 per hour
