About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a publicly traded hospitality real estate organization to hire a Senior Property Accountant to join a well-established, collaborative accounting team. This is a direct-hire opportunity offering a strong balance of property accounting ownership, public company financial exposure, and long-term career growth—without the constant urgency and fire-drill environment often associated with similar roles.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys review, analysis, and judgment-based accounting work, values strong team support, and wants exposure beyond traditional property accounting.
Key Responsibilities
This position blends core property accounting responsibilities with light but meaningful public company financial reporting exposure.
Property Accounting & Monthly Close
Own the monthly close and financial review for a defined portfolio of hotel properties
Review trial balances and financial results prepared by property management teams
Analyze results, investigate variances, and proactively ask questions to ensure accuracy and completeness
Prepare and review journal entries, month-end adjustments, and balance sheet reconciliations
Serve as the primary point of contact for financial questions with property managers
Support budgeting and forecasting activities, including variance explanations
Financial Reporting & Public Company Exposure
Assist with quarterly financial reporting in a public company environment
Support SEC-related tie-outs, roll-forwards, and data integrity checks to ensure property-level data accurately rolls up into consolidated financials
Contribute to aggregation of financial information, schedules, and supporting documentation used in external reporting
Partner with corporate accounting and reporting teams during quarterly close cycles (supporting role—not primary SEC preparation)
Process Improvement & Controls
Participate in process improvement, automation initiatives, and efficiency enhancements
Operate in a SOX-compliant environment, supporting completeness, accuracy, and internal controls
Assist with audit and compliance support as needed
This role is review- and analysis-focused—not daily transactional accounting.
Team Environment
Join a six-person Senior Property Accounting team
Highly collaborative culture with strong peer support and shared best practices
Structured onboarding and ongoing support—new hires are not left to figure things out independently
Leadership emphasizes stability, communication, and long-term development
Many candidates compare the team environment to public accounting in a positive way: shared accountability, peer learning, and consistent standards.
Systems & Career Development
Current environment utilizes an Excel-based general ledger
The organization is in the early stages of a major systems transformation, including:
Oracle Fusion
Oracle EPM
This role will provide early exposure to system implementation and transformation work, making it a strong résumé-building opportunity for candidates interested in systems, process design, and long-term growth

Strong month-end close and reconciliation experience
Comfortable reviewing financials prepared by others and asking thoughtful questions
