Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Staff Accountant to join our client’s on-site team in Fort Lee, NJ. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of accounting and wants to be closely involved in the day-to-day financial operations of a business.
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and ensuring smooth AP/AR processes. This is a highly visible role within a tight-knit accounting team, offering strong exposure to the full accounting cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and post journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close processes
Perform bank and account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
Manage full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
Process invoices, payments, and collections in a timely and accurate manner
Compute and file sales tax across applicable jurisdictions
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
Assist with financial reporting and internal documentation
Support audits and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
Utilize QuickBooks Desktop for daily accounting operations and reporting
Qualifications:
2+ years of accounting experience in a staff or general accounting role
Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Desktop required
Strong understanding of general accounting principles and full-cycle accounting
Experience with AP, AR, reconciliations, and journal entries
Exposure to sales tax calculations and filings strongly preferred
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
