Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Staff Accountant to join our client’s on-site team in Fort Lee, NJ. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of accounting and wants to be closely involved in the day-to-day financial operations of a business.

The Staff Accountant will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, and ensuring smooth AP/AR processes. This is a highly visible role within a tight-knit accounting team, offering strong exposure to the full accounting cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close processes

  • Perform bank and account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies

  • Manage full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable activities

  • Process invoices, payments, and collections in a timely and accurate manner

  • Compute and file sales tax across applicable jurisdictions

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts

  • Assist with financial reporting and internal documentation

  • Support audits and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards

  • Utilize QuickBooks Desktop for daily accounting operations and reporting

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of accounting experience in a staff or general accounting role

  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Desktop required

  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and full-cycle accounting

  • Experience with AP, AR, reconciliations, and journal entries

  • Exposure to sales tax calculations and filings strongly preferred

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment

  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
