Staff Accountant
Accounting & Finance
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting daily accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting. This role includes general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, payroll processing, and compliance with tax regulations. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and thrives in a deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting
Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
Analyze financial data and ensure accuracy of records
Support preparation of financial statements
Bank & Account Reconciliations
Perform monthly bank reconciliations
Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Ensure all reconciling items are properly documented and cleared
Payroll Processing
Process payroll in accordance with company policies and applicable laws
Reconcile payroll reports to the general ledger
Ensure accurate recording of payroll-related liabilities and expenses
Coordinate with HR on employee changes and payroll adjustments
Sales & Use Tax
Prepare and file sales and use tax returns
Maintain tax schedules and supporting documentation
Ensure compliance with state and local tax regulations
Assist with audits related to sales tax filings
Accounts Payable & Receivable Support
Assist with AP and AR processes as needed
Review invoices for accuracy and proper coding
Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding items
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
Assist with internal and external audits
Maintain organized and accurate financial documentation
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2–5 years of accounting experience preferred
Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Zoho Books, NetSuite, QuickBooks, etc.)
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Effective communication skills
