Staff Accountant (Direct Hire)
Location: On-site | Fast-Paced Environment
Salary: $60,000 - $80,000
An established and growing organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This individual will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting daily accounting operations, and ensuring compliance with standard accounting practices.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
General Accounting
Maintain accurate financial records and oversee general ledger activity
Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
Utilize QuickBooks and other internal systems to manage financial data
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives
Prepare financial reports and communicate key findings to leadership
Accounts Receivable
Record and post payments (ACH, checks, credit cards) accurately and timely
Monitor aging reports and conduct weekly collections outreach
Investigate and resolve discrepancies including missing or skipped invoices
Manage chargebacks and improve processes to reduce risk
Accounts Payable
Process invoices and convert receipts into bills in a timely manner
Reconcile vendor discrepancies (pricing, quantity, missing items)
Prepare weekly payment runs and ensure timely vendor payments
Audit freight and supplier invoices and provide recommendations
Reconciliations & Reporting
Perform daily bank and credit card reconciliations
Complete month-end close activities including:
Bank reconciliations
A/R and A/P reporting
Expense and prepayment analysis
Prepare financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow)
Investigate variances and implement process improvements
Compliance & Controls
Ensure adherence to accounting regulations and audit standards
Maintain Certificates of Insurance (COIs) and tax documentation
Support quarterly and annual tax filings (sales, payroll, income tax)
Assist leadership with audit preparation and financial reviews
Additional Responsibilities
Process credit memos, refunds, and transaction adjustments
Assist with payroll processing as needed
Support operational tasks including order processing and supply purchasing
Participate in system and process improvements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field
3–5+ years of hands-on accounting experience (full-cycle preferred)
Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and GL
Proficiency in QuickBooks; experience with Shopify or similar systems a plus
Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
Work Environment
Office-based role with a fast-paced, deadline-driven workload
May require schedule flexibility, including occasional evenings or weekends
Team-oriented setting with cross-functional collaboration
