Staff Accountant
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Job Type: Contract‑to‑Hire
Schedule: Monday–Friday | On-Site
Compensation: $24-29/hour
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail‑oriented Staff Accountant to support day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and cash applications. This role is ideal for someone with a solid accounting foundation who enjoys hands‑on work and is looking to grow within an organization.
Key Responsibilities
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
Prepare and review billing and invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
Apply customer payments including checks, ACH, and credit cards
Perform cash application and research unapplied or misapplied payments
Assist with general ledger reconciliations and account analysis
Prepare and post basic journal entries
Support month‑end close activities
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and support accounting operations
Assist with audits and ad‑hoc accounting projects as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
2–7 years of accounting experience, including AR/AP exposure
Experience with billing and cash application processes
Familiarity with accounting systems or ERPs a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, VLOOKUPS
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
