Location: Glen Allen, VA (Innsbrook Area)
Schedule: 100% Onsite
Compensation: $55,000–$77,000 + Bonus Potential

About the Opportunity

Our client is a well-established financial services organization seeking an Accountant to join its growing accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, values accuracy and integrity, and wants exposure to a variety of accounting functions across multiple entities.

Reporting directly to the Controller, this position offers hands-on involvement in financial reporting, reconciliations, month-end close activities, cash management, audits, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and committed to delivering high-quality work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records

  • Perform account reconciliations and review balance sheet and income statement accounts

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes

  • Assist with daily cash balancing and loan balancing activities

  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances

  • Prepare and maintain documentation supporting financial transactions

  • Collaborate with senior accounting staff on accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements

  • Assist with internal and external audits, including financial statement audits

  • Support internal control initiatives and compliance activities

  • Partner with various departments to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency

  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the accounting function

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required

  • CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA designation preferred

  • 2–3 years of accounting experience in public accounting and/or industry preferred

  • Strong understanding of GAAP

  • Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting

  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

  • Experience working with accounting or ERP systems

  • Ability to quickly learn new software and technology platforms

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

  • ADP

  • Loan Vision

  • SoftPro

  • Encompass

  • Ramp

  • FICS
