Survey Crew Chief / Party Crew Chief

Compensation: $25-$40/hour + Overtime

We are seeking an experienced Survey Crew Chief / Party Crew Chief to join a growing land surveying team supporting a variety of boundary, topographic, construction, ALTA, and site development projects throughout South Florida.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on field leader who enjoys working outdoors, mentoring crews, and taking ownership of projects from start to finish.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead and supervise survey crews of 3-5 field personnel

  • Perform Boundary, Topographic, Construction, and ALTA surveys

  • Operate GPS, robotic total stations, and data collection equipment

  • Review plans, plats, legal descriptions, and project requirements

  • Ensure field work is completed accurately, safely, and efficiently

  • Maintain detailed field notes and project documentation

  • Train and mentor junior survey staff

  • Coordinate with project managers and office personnel regarding project status

  • Identify and resolve field issues as they arise

  • Maintain survey equipment, trucks, and inventory


What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of land surveying experience preferred

  • Previous experience as a Survey Crew Chief, Party Chief, or Lead Surveyor

  • Strong knowledge of construction staking, boundary, and topographic surveys

  • Experience using GPS and robotic survey equipment

  • Ability to read engineering plans, plats, and legal descriptions

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record

  • Ability to pass criminal background screening required for site access


Work Environment

This is a field-driven position requiring someone who is comfortable working outdoors year-round.

Projects may include:

  • Everglades and environmental areas

  • Roadway and transportation projects

  • Commercial and residential developments

  • Construction and infrastructure sites

Candidates must be comfortable working in:

  • South Florida heat and humidity

  • Uneven terrain and remote project locations

  • Active construction environments


Schedule & Travel

  • Typically Monday-Friday

  • Occasional Saturdays based on project demands

  • Primarily local work throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach Counties

  • Up to 20% travel outside the local area

  • Overnight travel may be required periodically with hotel accommodations and per diem provided


Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Steel Toe Boots

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Eligibility to obtain required project access credentials when needed
