Temporary Payroll Specialist
Location: Seattle, WA (Hybrid or Onsite)
Pay Rate: $30–$35/hour
Assignment Length: 3–6 months (potential for extension)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Temporary Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations during a leave of absence and increased workload. This role will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and efficiently across multiple entities. The ideal candidate has strong technical payroll knowledge, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can hit the ground running with minimal training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process full-cycle payroll for multi-state, multi-entity operations on a bi-weekly and/or semi-monthly basis

  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations

  • Handle payroll tax filings, garnishments, and benefit deductions

  • Reconcile payroll reports and general ledger accounts

  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner

  • Partner with HR and Accounting teams to ensure accurate employee data and reporting

  • Assist with year-end payroll processes including W-2 preparation

  • Support audits by providing payroll documentation and reports

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of full-cycle payroll experience

  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing

  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, taxes, and compliance requirements

  • Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Paylocity, Workday, or similar

  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs preferred)

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion

  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus

  • Experience with union or prevailing wage payroll is a plus

  • Experience in high-volume or multi-entity environments
