Trade Compliance Specialist
Procurement & Supply Chain
LHH is actively seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist for one of our top clients in Austin! This will be a long term contract opportunity with our client and open to 100% remote.
In this role, you’ll support trade compliance activities across the U.S., EMEA, and APAC regions. You’ll help ensure adherence to U.S. export controls and sanctions, EU regulations, the Singapore Strategic Goods Act, and other global compliance frameworks. Your work will span multiple functions, including denied party screening, import/export classification, contract review, and maintaining compliance documentation. This position is ideal for someone who combines strong regulatory knowledge with hands-on experience in global logistics and supply chains.

Contract Details:
6–12 month contract with potential for extension
Key Responsibilities
Denied Party Screening
Screen customers, suppliers, and partners against restricted party lists
Investigate and escalate potential matches or compliance concerns
Maintain accurate records of screening results and actions
Export & Import Classification
Support ECCN and HTS classification across U.S., EMEA, and APAC shipments
Review product specifications to determine classification under applicable regulations (e.g., EAR, EU Dual-Use, Singapore SGA)
Verify end-use and end-user information
Maintain classification documentation
Contract Review
Assist in reviewing contracts, purchase orders, and agreements for compliance with trade regulations
Identify and flag potential regulatory risks, including FAR/DFAR considerations
Ensure appropriate trade compliance clauses are included
Procedural Documentation
Develop and update SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation
Partner with logistics and operations teams to document compliance procedures
Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives
Engagement Expectations
Operate as an independent contractor providing expert guidance
Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Logistics, Procurement, and Operations teams
All deliverables and documentation created during the engagement remain company property
Required Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of experience in trade compliance, export/import operations, or logistics compliance
Hands-on experience with denied party screening
Familiarity with trade compliance tools (e.g., E2Open, Descartes, AEB)
Strong understanding of ECCN, HTS, and global trade regulations
Experience reviewing contracts for compliance requirements
Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting multi-region operations (U.S., EMEA, APAC), especially Hungary and Singapore
Background in drafting SOPs or process documentation
Familiarity with ERP and CRM systems
Pay Details: $36.00 to $40.00 per hour
