The Managing Director/a will lead a software development company based in Bratislava, a subsidiary of a Germany-based company.
The company has around 70 internal employees and 40 freelancers, mainly focused on Java-based software development.
The role combines overall company management with direct responsibility for software production, ensuring efficient, scalable and high-quality delivery across the full software development lifecycle.General Management
Full P&L responsibility for the company.
Overall leadership of the company: strategy, organization, budgeting and performance.
Act as the main interface with the parent company.
Build and maintain a strong management team and a high-performance culture.
Ensure compliance with legal, financial and HR requirements.
Support recruitment, retention and development of key technical and managerial profiles.
Software Production & Delivery
Full responsibility for software delivery across all projects.
Define, implement and continuously improve software development processes covering the full Software development life cycle.
Ensure efficiency, predictability, quality and scalability of development activities.
Lead and structure development teams (internal staff and freelancers).
Establish best practices in areas such as architecture, code quality, testing, CI/CD, documentation and release management.
Monitor/a delivery KPIs (cost, quality, timelines, productivity).
Act as a senior technical reference, especially for Java-based development.
Requisitos
Required Expertise & Background
Proven experience in managing software development organizations (preferably 50+ people).
Strong background in software engineering, with deep hands-on understanding of Java technologies.
Demonstrated experience leading software production at scale, not only managing people.
Solid knowledge of modern software development practices (Agile / hybrid models, DevOps, CI/CD).
Experience managing mixed teams (internal employees + freelancers).
Ability to combine technical depth with business and operational leadership.
Previous experience as Managing Director/a, Engineering Director/a, CTO, or similar senior role is a strong advantage.
Strong leadership, decision-making and communication skills.
Comfortable working in an international, multi-location environment.
Fluent English required. The candidate must be a native Slovak or Czech speaker.
