Senior Mechanical Engineer (m/w/d)
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer (m/w/d) with advanced expertise in mechanical design, system integration, and thermal/fluid dynamics to lead complex product development efforts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the full mechanical lifecycle—from initial concept, through detailed design and simulation, to validation and manufacturing support. You’ll work across multidisciplinary teams to engineer precision mechanical systems used in [e.g., aerospace, robotics, automotive, medical devices, renewable energy, etc.].
Job responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end mechanical design process for products and subsystems, including 3D modeling, detailed drawings, tolerance stack-up, and material selection.
- Perform finite element analysis (FEA) (thermal, structural, vibration) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) using tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or COMSOL.
- Drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) best practices; collaborate with vendors and manufacturing teams to optimize parts and processes.
- Develop engineering requirements, specifications, and validation plans; ensure traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
- Conduct failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and risk assessments for new designs.
- Develop and execute test plans; interpret data and refine designs accordingly.
- Utilize PLM systems (e.g., Windchill, Teamcenter) to manage BOMs, revisions, and document control.
- Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and perform peer reviews for design accuracy and code compliance.
- Interface with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, systems, quality, and operations to ensure design integration.
Your profile:
- Education background in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of mechanical design experience in a product development or R&D environment.
- Expert-level proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or NX).
- Deep knowledge of mechanical system dynamics, thermomechanical behavior, and material science.
- Proven experience with FEA/CFD tools and interpreting simulation results.
- Experience with GD&T per ASME Y14.5, tolerance analysis, and stack-ups for high-precision systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept through production.
- Fluent in German and English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with additive manufacturing, sheet metal, injection molding, or machined components.
- Familiarity with mechatronic systems, including actuators, sensors, and motion control.
- Understanding of safety-critical design standards
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or scripting for data analysis and design automation.
