A multinational company with a global presence has tasked us with finding a Senior Legal Counsel EMEA to join their team, reporting directly to the General Counsel.

Manage the legal function of businesses in EMEA. Provide accurate and timely advice to management on a variety of legal topics. Safeguard reputation and ensure that its entities and personnel in EMEA comply with laws and internal policies.


Responsibilities


Individual accountabilities in EMEA:

  • establish and manage Company Secretariat in each legal entity
  • draft and negotiate a wide range of domestic and international commercial agreements in English
  • manage post-acquisition / post-rationalisation integration
  • manage litigations and claims
  • communicate with regulators and public authorities
  • analyse legislation and regulations, provide legal opinions - including implementation and/or impact on the business
  • manage the appointment of external legal counsel


Shared accountabilities


  • legal entity rationalisation
  • develop, implement and enforce corporate policies and procedures
  • ensure harmonized approach to common legal topics in the Group
  • develop compliance function in EMEA, including training, risk reviews and internal audit investigations

Key linkages & interfaces / most important stakeholders


  • General Counsel
  • Directors of the EMEA entities
  • Cluster, regional and national CFOs
  • purchasing, sales and business operations teams

Your Profile


  • Admitted to the bar in an EU country
  • 10+ years post-qualification experience, half of which should have been with a law firm
  • International experience in the manufacturing sector desirable
  • Postgraduate degree in Business Administration would be an advantage
  • Fluent in written and spoken English (min CEFR C2)
  • Broad generalist with proficiency in corporate law, company secretarial matters and compliance
  • Ability to provide pragmatic, commercially-focused legal advice and solutions, quickly
